Well, last Saturday - the 7th - was the annual Kent Philatelic
Society's fall stamp show, otherwise know as Kentpex 2015.
Not as many dealers at this year's show, but still worth going -
at least it was for me!:)
And it did have quite a few buyers during the time I was there.
Also, 2 of the dealers whom I buy regularly from stated that
they had brisk sales that day.
Being a 2-day event (Sat. & Sun.), I hope they did well on the
second day too! I was there just for Saturday.
As far as I know, only 2 of our club's members attended;
myself and Lou Hedger. Lou is not listed as a member here
on our site because Lou doesn't do anything with computers
or the internet. But he is still a very active collector and club
The show was a success for me, as I acquired 22 more US
revenues for my collection, as well as a few Match & Medicine
and also found a cover collection of Israel covers for a friend
that I have since been told was a good buy.
So it was an overall success!
There was, however, a bit of a sad note;
longtime dealer Chuck Drouillard was noticeably absent at
the show. Chuck passed away immediately after the APS
show in Grand Rapids, MI last August.
He had been battling health issues for many months prior
and finally lost the fight. He was an honest dealer and a nice
man. He will be missed by many.:(
I spent about 4 hours at the show, looking through dealers'
'wares' and chatting with familiar faces.
Many of the dealers have become friends to me and know me
on site and by name. I always seem to get good deals from
those I purchase from regularly and it is always a pleasure to
sit and chat with them , whether the subject is stamps or
something totally unrelated. I guess it pays to be a regular
visitor to the show!:)
That's all for now; we have a club meeting coming up on
Tuesday the 17th, so I'll be posting the minutes from that
meeting sometime next week.
Until then -
